Ghana is taking bold strides toward redefining its role in regional security and industrial advancement with the reaffirmed commitment of Defence Minister Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah. At the heart of this vision is the creation of a dynamic Defence Industrial Complex (DIC), to be developed under the strategic leadership of the Defence Industries Holding Company Limited (DIHOC). This initiative is more than a defence project—it is a transformational blueprint for economic growth, technological advancement, and international collaboration.

With a newly appointed board tasked with executing this bold agenda, the government has pledged its full support to ensure DIHOC achieves its objectives. This move aligns with the Civil-Military Collaboration for Socio-Economic Development (CIMICSED) strategy—an ambitious framework co-developed by the Ministry of Defence and the Military High Command to harness defence capabilities for national development.

Since 2022, DIHOC has launched twelve joint venture companies across sectors as diverse as electronics, infrastructure, logistics, energy, and health. These ventures—ranging from armoured vehicle assembly and small-calibre ammunition production to smart city construction and coastal revitalization—embody Ghana’s integrated approach to industrialization. Each company plays a unique role in not only strengthening national defence but also driving job creation, technological innovation, and sustainable economic development.

At its core, the Defence Industrial Complex is designed to transform Ghana into a sub-regional hub for defence manufacturing, strategic partnerships, and industrial resilience. It represents a bold fusion of national pride and pragmatic policy, promising to position Ghana as a leading force in West African development.
