Pope Leo XIV has addressed the Bishops’ Conference of France to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the canonization of three French saints: Saint John Eudes, Saint John Mary Vianney, and Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face. The Pope highlighted the significance of these saints as models to imitate and powerful supporters to pray to.

The Pope noted that his predecessor, Pius XI, raised these saints to the glory of the altars to present them to the People of God as teachers to listen to. Saint John Eudes, Saint John Mary Vianney, and Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face are considered exemplary figures in the Catholic Church, and their canonization a century ago continues to inspire devotion and faith.

The Pope emphasized that despite the challenges facing the Church in France today, the teachings and examples of these three saints remain relevant. He invited the Church in France to give special prominence to this anniversary, highlighting one spiritual trait that the three saints have in common.

By celebrating the legacy of these saints, the Pope hopes to inspire the faithful in France and beyond to deepen their devotion and commitment to their faith. The anniversary serves as an opportunity for reflection, renewal, and recommitment to the values and principles embodied by Saint John Eudes, Saint John Mary Vianney, and Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face.
