Police Welfare Scheme Funds New Kumasi Hospital

Kumasi, Ghana – Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, on Thursday, June 5, 2025, commissioned a 50-bed Police Hospital in Kumasi, financed entirely by the Police Welfare Scheme. The new facility aims to improve healthcare access for police personnel, their families, and the general public.

During the commissioning, Alhaji Muntaka commended the Ghana Police Service leadership and the welfare scheme custodians for their foresight in securing sustainable healthcare for officers. He emphasized that the hospital represents the achievements possible through unity and purpose.

The Minister affirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the hospital is adequately staffed, equipped, and maintained to the highest standards. He also announced that the Tamale Police Hospital is 80% complete, and medical staff recruitment for both the Kumasi and Tamale facilities is underway, with operations expected to begin soon. Alhaji Muntaka urged the Ghana Police Service management to prioritize a high maintenance culture to safeguard the well-being of personnel, their dependents, and the wider public.

COP Iddi Lansa Seidu, Director General Welfare of the Ghana Police Service, stated that the hospital underscores the Service’s core values of solidarity and responsibility and reinforces its dedication to the well-being of officers, their families, and retirees.
