The Bono Regional Police Command has successfully restored calm in Sampa following a violent clash between two rival factions, Sammordua and Samba Gyafla, at the Sampa main market on Sunday, October 5, 2025. The disturbance involved an exchange of gunfire and resulted in the burning of several stores in the market area, according to a press release from the Bono Regional Police Command.
Police personnel were immediately deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call about the violence. The team also provided escort for a Ghana National Fire Service tender and an ambulance transporting a pregnant woman to the hospital. During the intervention, the police team came under fire from the armed groups, leading to several officers sustaining gunshot injuries and a service vehicle, registered GP 686, veering into a ditch during the crossfire.
The injured officers were promptly taken to the Sampa Government Hospital. Seven officers were treated and subsequently discharged. However, one officer who sustained a head injury has been referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi for specialized treatment. The police have since intensified patrols in Sampa, and the situation is reported to be calm. The Bono Regional Police Command assures the public that efforts are underway to arrest all individuals involved in the disturbances.
