The Western Central Regional Police Command has successfully restored calm in Nsuaem following a violent incident where a large mob attacked the local Police Station on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

The unrest began after police detained Sulley Moses, aged 25, based on a report from a group of about fifteen men, accompanied by two children aged seven and five, who claimed they found the suspect conversing with the children by the roadside near Nivo Filling Station and suspected he intended to lure them away. The detention followed confirmation from the children that the suspect had forcibly held the hand of one of them as they attempted to leave.

Shortly after the man was detained, a mob estimated at around 500 people besieged the station, demanding his release. Armed with stones and offensive weapons, the crowd blocked the vital Takoradi-Tarkwa highway, set tires ablaze, and threw stones at the police personnel.

The attack resulted in damage to two police vehicles, sections of the station building, and several impounded motorbikes. A reinforcement team from the Police, supported by military personnel, was deployed to disperse the unruly crowd and regain control of the situation.

The confrontation resulted in injuries to three police officers and four civilians, all of whom received initial treatment at the Nsuaem Government Hospital, with one civilian later referred to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital for advanced care.

The police have strongly condemned the attack, assuring the public that all perpetrators will be identified and brought to justice. The detained suspect has been transferred to the Tarkwa Regional Headquarters for further investigation, and all officers from the Nsuaem Police Station have been safely relocated, with the station temporarily shut down.
