Police Quell Communal Violence in Nkwanta, Oti Region

A wave of communal violence swept through Nkwanta and its environs in the Oti Region, leaving a trail of destruction and loss of life. The clashes resulted in the deaths of five people, with five others injured, and eight buildings and one shop reduced to rubble.

In response to the chaos, the Ghana Police Service swiftly deployed reinforcement teams to support the Regional Command, with the Military providing additional support. The Police have successfully restored calm and order in the area, ensuring the safety of residents.

The Inspector-General of Police has reached out to the three chiefs in the area, urging them to partner with security agencies to maintain peace and stability in the community. Meanwhile, the Oti Regional Police Commander is engaging with local leaders and community members to promote peace-building activities as investigations into the incident continue.

The Police have assured the public that they will continue to work closely with the Military to ensure peace and security in Nkwanta and its environs. The people of Nkwanta can breathe a sigh of relief as order has been restored, and efforts are underway to prevent future disturbances.
