Police Officers Withdraw Lawsuit Against IGP’s Transfer Orders

Ten police officers who had taken the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, to court over their transfer orders, have withdrawn their lawsuit. The officers, led by Sergeant David Ojeyim, had initially claimed that they were instructed by Deputy IGP, Mr. Christian Yohonu, to disregard the transfer order, which they argued was arbitrary and lacked proper justification.

The group had also raised concerns about the transparency and fairness of the transfer process, calling for accountability from the Police Administration. However, in a recent court hearing, the officers informed the court of their decision to withdraw the lawsuit, while maintaining the right to refile the case in the future if necessary.

The withdrawn lawsuit brings an end to the legal challenge against the transfer orders, at least for now. The officers involved in the lawsuit were Sergeant Prince Owusu Fayosey, Sergeant Seidu Essilfie, Sergeant Alex Abah, Corporal John Yao Adzimagbor, Corporal Michael Kwasi Avuyi, Corporal Huudu Muhammed Wumbe, Corporal Kabiru Mohammed, Corporal Hannah Antwi-Boasiako, and IC/Inspector Alexander Odoi.
