In a proactive move to ensure a secure and peaceful electoral process, the Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, led a delegation of the Police Management Board (POMAB) on a tour of municipal electoral offices in Accra. The visit, which took place on Friday, August 2, 2024, aimed to assess the security measures in place for the ongoing mop-up voter registration exercise.

Dr. Dampare and his team inspected the Old EC Head Office in Ridge, Accra, where they evaluated the security arrangements and preparations for the upcoming general elections. The police leadership’s tour is a demonstration of their commitment to maintaining law and order during the electoral process.

Through this visit, the police seek to identify potential security gaps and address them promptly, ensuring a smooth and credible electoral process. The mop-up voter registration exercise is a critical component of the electoral process, and the police’s proactive approach will help to build trust and confidence among citizens.

As the country prepares for the 2024 general elections, the police leadership’s tour of electoral centers is a reassuring step towards a peaceful and secure electoral environment.
