The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects, Solomon Opoku and Collins Aboagye, in connection with the robbery and murder of 20-year-old Kofi Mensah at Tweapease-Aboo in the Ashanti Region. The arrests followed sustained intelligence-led operations initiated after a report was filed with the Bediem District Police Command on October 6, 2025, by the area’s Assembly Member. The report detailed that the victim had been attacked, killed, and his Haojin motorbike stolen, prompting a swift police investigation into the violent incident.
The breakthrough came on October 10, 2025, when suspect Solomon Opoku was apprehended at Council Quarters in Obuasi while allegedly attempting to sell the stolen motorbike. This critical arrest led investigators to his accomplice, Collins Aboagye, who was subsequently taken into custody at Kokotesua, also a suburb of Obuasi. Authorities have confirmed that both suspects have admitted to the crime, and the stolen motorbike has been successfully retrieved as evidence, strengthening the police case against the duo.
Solomon Opoku and Collins Aboagye are currently in police custody and are scheduled to be put before court on Monday, October 13, 2025, to face charges related to the robbery and murder. The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has used the opportunity to assure the public of its firm resolve to pursue justice for the victim and his family, emphasizing its dedication to enhancing the safety and security of all communities within the region.
