The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, supported by the National Signals Bureau (NSB), has taken suspect Samuel Amadotor into custody regarding the malicious publication of false information. This action follows an official complaint lodged by Mr. Okatakye Boakye Danquah Ababio I concerning the false report targeting him.

The police investigation aims to uncover the full scope of the operation behind the publication, treating the dissemination of untruths as a serious criminal offense that can damage reputations and undermine public trust. The CID’s prompt response highlights the increasing focus on curbing the spread of deliberate misinformation within the country.

During the interrogation process, Samuel Amadotor confessed to his involvement in the offense and provided a significant lead for the investigating officers. He identified Chairman Michael Yeboah as the individual who contracted and instructed him to carry out the false publication. This revelation shifts the focus of the ongoing inquiry towards establishing the motive and the exact nature of Chairman Yeboah’s role in the conspiracy.

The Ghana Police Service is actively pursuing leads and searching for Chairman Yeboah, emphasizing that his cooperation is crucial to finalizing the details of the case and bringing all responsible parties to justice.

Mr. Amadotor is currently being held in police custody and is slated to appear before a court of law tomorrow, November 21, 2025. This legal step marks the formal beginning of the judicial process against the accused.

The press release detailing these developments was issued by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, the Public Relations Officer for the CID. The successful coordination between the CID and the NSB underscores the combined effort of Ghana’s security apparatus to tackle sophisticated information crimes, reinforcing the message that those involved in spreading false news will be rigorously investigated and prosecuted under the law.
