ACCRA, GHANA – The Accra Regional Police Command has provided an update on its actions regarding the violent incidents and assaults reported during the Ablekuma North Parliamentary re-run held on Friday, July 11, 2025.
The police are currently reviewing and analyzing multiple video recordings of the incidents to identify all individuals involved.
Statements have been obtained from complainants and witnesses to assist in the ongoing investigations.
The Command has also gathered crucial leads and anticipates making arrests soon. Victims of the incidents have been provided with Police Medical Report Forms.
In a related development, a police officer captured on video assaulting a journalist has been interdicted and is facing criminal charges of assault.
The Accra Regional Police Command reiterated its commitment to holding all individuals responsible for acts of violence, intimidation, or misconduct during the elections accountable under the law. The public is urged to cooperate with the police and provide any credible information via emergency numbers 18555 or 191.
