Parliament House Vandalism: Two Suspects Arrested

A shocking incident of vandalism occurred at the Parliament House in Accra, Ghana, on December 18, 2024. Two suspected individuals, Wisdom Ahlie (42) and Christopher Okyere (33), were apprehended by the Parliamentary Security Unit for vandalizing the windscreens and side glasses of five parked vehicles.

The damaged vehicles included two Toyota Land Cruisers belonging to Members of Parliament, a Toyota Rav 4, and two Toyota Camry belonging to Staff of the Parliamentary Service. An axe head was used to commit the crime, but the motives behind their actions remain unknown.

The suspects were handed over to the Parliamentary Protection Unit (Ghana Police Service) for further investigations. Fortunately, there were no casualties, although the extent of the damage is yet to be determined.

Interestingly, earlier reports suggested that only one person was involved in the vandalism ¹ ². However, the official statement from Parliament confirms that two suspects were arrested. The incident has raised concerns about security at the Parliament House and the need for increased measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
