Parliament has held a special forum for students from the Senior High Technical School for the Deaf, aimed at enhancing their understanding of parliamentary processes and promoting inclusive governance. The event provided an opportunity for the students to learn about Ghana’s legislative history, the core mandates of Parliament, and the stages of a bill.
Members of Parliament, including Sammy Awuku, Fred Agbenyo, Eric Agbana, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Shirley Kyei, and Wallace Pele, interacted with the students, encouraging them to participate in the legislative process through various means such as petitions, school campaigns, and civic education. The MPs emphasized the importance of voting, advocacy, and standing for office as ways to contribute meaningfully to governance and promote social justice.
The forum was designed to promote inclusive governance and empower students with hearing impairment to engage with the legislative process. By educating the students on their rights and opportunities for participation, Parliament aims to foster a more inclusive and representative democracy.
