Parliament Honors Music Icon Daddy Lumba

Accra, Ghana : Members of Parliament have paid tribute to the late Ghanaian music legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, who passed away on July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra after a brief illness.

The Member of Parliament for Manhyia North, Akwasi Konadu, lauded Daddy Lumba as one of Ghana’s greatest musical legends, a maestro, and an icon whose influence spanned generations and crossed national borders. He described him as a torchbearer and trailblazer renowned for consistently producing timeless music replete with thoughtful messages and profound advice. “His works were not just songs; they were experiences, carefully crafted pieces that touched hearts and stirred consciences,” Konadu stated.

In a separate address to the House, Adelaide Ntim, Member of Parliament for Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo, also acknowledged the musician’s passing. She appealed to Parliament and the government to consider bestowing national honors upon the late icon, including providing a state-assisted funeral. Furthermore, she advocated for the establishment of initiatives dedicated to preserving and promoting his extensive musical legacy for the benefit of future generations.

She concluded, “Let us remember Charles Kwadwo Fosu not just with tears, but with pride for the gift he was to our nation.”
