
A somber mood pervaded the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi as His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, sat in state to mark the one-week observation of the passing of Nana Konadu Yiadom III, the late Asantehemaa. The ceremony drew a galaxy of dignitaries, showcasing the widespread respect and admiration for the departed queen mother.

The event was attended by prominent figures, including Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, who led a government delegation. National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia was also in attendance, demonstrating the bipartisan nature of the gathering.

Other notable attendees included former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and his wife, Samira Bawumia. High-ranking government officials, such as the Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and several ministers, were also present to pay their respects.

The ceremony was also attended by representatives from various institutions, including the British High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Mr. Christian Rogg, officials from AngloGold Ashanti, Ghana Airports Company Limited, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), and the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA). The gathering underscored the significant impact of the late Asantehemaa on the nation and the Asanteman community.
