The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) has made significant strides in recovering outstanding payments from customers in the Ahafo Region. On the first day of a revenue mobilization and loss control exercise, the Sunyani Area office recovered over GH¢850,000.
The exercise targeted several companies, including Ayum Forest Product Limited, which owes GH¢5.6 million. The company avoided disconnection by issuing a post-dated cheque of GH¢800,000. NEDCo officials also visited Supremo Wood Processing Limited, which owed GH¢1.4 million, and had its power disconnected initially. However, after settling part of its debt, power was restored.
Other companies visited included CookClean Ghana Limited and RK Peprah Company Limited, with outstanding debts of GH¢51,000 and GH¢10,595, respectively. RK Peprah settled about GH¢70,000, while CookClean had its power disconnected.
Engineer Augustine Akolgo Nsoh, Revenue Protection Officer for the Sunyani Area, emphasized that NEDCo urgently needs funds to settle its own debts and improve internal operations. He appealed to all customers to pay their bills on time to help the company deliver better service.
