Accra, Ghana – The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is mourning the loss of two long-serving party members, Kobina Ade Coker and Sam Pee Yalley, who were buried over the weekend. The two are being remembered for their dedication and contributions to the party’s growth and recent electoral success.
Joseph Ade Coker, the former Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC, was laid to rest on Friday, August 1, 2025. The funeral was attended by party members, family, and well-wishers who paid their last respects to the man known for his outspoken political views. Ade Coker died on Saturday, May 31, after a brief illness.
First elected as Greater Accra Regional Chairman in 2009, Ade Coker served three consecutive terms before losing his re-election bid in 2022. Beyond politics, he also held the position of Vice Chairman of the Ghana Football Association, demonstrating his leadership in both political and sports administration circles.
The party credits both Ade Coker and Sam Pee Yalley with playing a crucial role in the NDC’s “emphatic 2024 election victory.” President John Dramani Mahama expressed his condolences and appreciation for their service, stating, “We shall surely miss them. They played their part in our emphatic 2024 election victory. May their souls rest in peace.”
