The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame of judicial manipulation and persecution of the party’s Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson. A witness, Richard Jakpa, testified in court that the Attorney General had met with him several times, pressuring him to implicate Forson.

The party in a statement signed by its general secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketiah said the NDC is outraged, citing this as evidence of the government’s desperation to victimize political opponents.

According to the statement, the party promises to hold a press conference next week, presenting evidence that will “shock the nation” and ensure justice is served.

In essence, the NDC is alleging that the Attorney-General is engaging in unethical behavior, manipulating the judicial process to target political opponents, and they plan to expose this further in a upcoming press conference.

PRESS STATEMENT
For Immediate Release:
23rd May, 2024.

WITNESS EXPOSES JUDICIAL MANIPULATIONS OF DEVIOUS GODFRED DAME IN COURT

It has come to the attention of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), that during the proceedings of today, Thursday, 23rd May, 2024, in the matter of the trial of the Leader of the NDC Minority in Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the 3rd Accused, Mr. Richard Jakpa testified in open court that the Attorney-General, Godfred Yeboah Dame has had several meetings with him at odd hours and telephone conversations impressing on him to skew his testimony to implicate the Minority Leader.

These are matters of fact which formed part of the court’s record of proceedings today.

The NDC is deeply scandalised by this clear case of persecution against the Leader of the party’s Caucus in Parliament who has been at the forefront of our struggle against the misrule of the oppressive and despotic Akufo-Addo/Bawumia NPP regime.

This revelation goes to confirm legitimate and long-held suspicion of the devious modus operandi of Godfred Dame and the government he represents.

It further shows the desperate lengths the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia NPP government will go to manipulate judicial processes to unjustly victimise political opponents for cheap political goal-scoring.

It also confirms the lack of integrity of the dishonourable Attorney-General and the extent to which he goes to pervert the course of justice.

The NDC wishes to serve notice that early next week, the party shall hold a full-blown press conference and put out incontrovertible evidence on this matter that will shock the nation. We will stop at nothing in pursuing this matter to its logical conclusion and ensuring that justice is done.

SIGNED.
Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah
National Chairman
