Accra, Ghana – The High Commission of the Republic of Namibia in Accra recently hosted a vibrant celebration marking the country’s 35th Independence Anniversary. The event brought together a distinguished gathering of government officials, diplomats, traditional leaders, and members of the Namibian community residing in Ghana.
Ghana’s Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, represented the government and delivered a heartfelt speech. He congratulated Namibia on its significant journey to independence, praising its dedication to democratic principles, peace, and stability. Alhaji Mohammed-Mubarak underscored the strong bond between Ghana and Namibia, a connection forged through solidarity during Namibia’s struggle for self-determination. He also stressed the importance of unwavering solidarity among African nations and with people globally striving for justice, peace, and dignity.
During the celebration, both Ghana and Namibia reaffirmed their commitment to bolstering partnerships across various sectors, including education, healthcare, trade, tourism, security, and energy. The event served as a powerful reminder of the enduring importance of African unity, self-determination, and sustainable development. The Hon. Minister and the outgoing High Commissioner of Namibia, H.E. Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, raised a toast to the continued good health and visionary leadership of both presidents, the enduring friendship between the two nations, and the aspiration for a united, peaceful, and prosperous Africa.
