On Saturday, July 9, 2022, family and friends of Steve Dei, members of the Ghanaian Community in Chicago, and across the United States and Canada, were clad in black and white to celebrate the life of the late Prosper Dei. Prosper Dei was the father of Steve Dei.  The event took place at 6330 W. 127th Street, Palos Heights, Illinois. He passed away at the Tema General Hospital recently after a short illness. The celebrations turned out to be one of the most spectacular and well-attended events in Chicago in recent times . Members of the NDC North America, led by their cheery chairperson, Viviane Dadzie, brought the house down. The group took to the main dance floor, proudly and loudly singing and dancing to NDC party songs.

In a glorious tribute to his late dad, Steve Dei recounted that his father was a devout Christian who would many a time remind his children that,” God is processing you, he is not through with you yet because if he were through with you, you would not wake up in the morning”. He also stated that his late father was a disciplinarian par excellence, a problem solver, a great counselor, who never hid his displeasure if any.”

Reverend Emmanuel Betson centered his message to the audience on the death and resurrection of a Christian. He said , to the Christian, death is not the end of life but a long sleep, from which Christ will awaken us at His second coming. With this hope in mind, Christians are not supposed to sorrow like those who have no hope of the resurrection of the dead. He ended by saying “We shall all meet again at His appearing”.
