Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, paid a visit to the Passport Office Headquarters in Ridge and the Accra Regional Passport Application Center on February 19, 2025. During his tour, the Minister was given a tour of the facilities and the passport processing system.
Okudzeto Ablakwa expressed appreciation to the staff for their service, on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama. He outlined plans to introduce a shift system to clear the backlog of passport applications, increase staff, upgrade facilities, and enhance security and transportation.
The government is exploring ways to subsidize the cost of obtaining a passport. Premium passport services will be introduced, offering faster processing times. The Minister aims to reduce the passport processing timeline.
