Mawuena Adzo Dumor, a former CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), was laid to rest today, June 29, 2024, following a burial service at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra.

Mawuena Adzo Dumor passed away on the evening of Wednesday, April 10, 2024, after a short period of illness. She notably served as the first female CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) from 2013 to 2017 under John Dramani Mahama’s presidency.
Her career spanned various leadership roles across multiple industries and politics. She began her career as Ghana’s first female underground exploration geologist at Ashanti Goldfields Company Ltd. She later held positions as head of Corporate Communications at Newmont Ghana Gold Ltd. and head of Corporate Services at Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN). Mawuena was also the founding director and Chief Business Strategist at Inspire Africa.
Former President John Dramani Mahama, in a tribute read by Prof Nana Opoku Agyemang, described Mawuena as a woman with an incredible intellect. She is survived by a daughter, Katherine Joy.
Mawuena’s legacy will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her. May her soul rest in perfect peace.
