These incentives are primarily aimed at airlines willing to operate these new routes. During a strategic business meeting in Massachusetts, a Ghanaian delegation led by Ghana’s Deputy Minister of Transport, Hon. Hassan Tampuli, discussed these plans with Massport and aviation authorities in Massachusetts. The meeting also included Hon. Ken Asafo-Adjei and Jeevan Ramapriya, the Executive Director of Massachusetts Port Authority.
Ghana is actively advocating for the establishment of new aviation routes connecting Boston to Accra, Accra to Boston, and Kumasi International Airport. By introducing these routes, Ghana aims to provide more convenient travel options for passengers, boost tourism, and enhance business exchanges. The proposed routes reflect Ghana’s commitment to expanding its aviation network and strengthening international connectivity. This initiative, facilitated by Ghana’s Ministry of Transport and the New England Ghanaian community in partnership with the Massachusetts Port Authority, seeks to save Ghanaians and African travelers the hassle of transiting through JFK Airport before reaching their destination. It is anticipated that citizens of both countries would prefer direct flights from Boston to Accra and vice versa, rather than spending over six hours waiting at airports. The move aims to provide timely convenience in accessing direct flights between Massachusetts and Ghana.
Hon. Hassan Tampuli expressed confidence in the positive outcomes resulting from this successful business meeting, emphasizing the economic determination required to make these aviation services a reality. The collaboration between Ghana and Massachusetts aims to strengthen travel and economic ties between the two regions.
This development is exciting news for both travelers and the Ghanaian community in the United States, as it opens up new possibilities for direct air travel between Boston and Ghana.
