The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to revitalizing the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) through a joint private-public partnership if elected. He believes the refinery’s problems stem from being a state-owned enterprise and promises to open it up to private partnership to revitalize and run it efficiently.

Mahama made this promise during a meeting with downstream petroleum sector players, including oil marketing companies, bulk oil distributors, tanker drivers, petroleum consumers, and energy security experts. He emphasized the need for significant attention and transparent private participation to restore the refinery’s operations.

Mahama expressed his dedication to building a better Ghana, including addressing challenges in the petroleum sector. He thanked participants for their valuable insights and assured them of his commitment to a sustainable petroleum industry for all Ghanaians.
