Accra, Ghana – President John Dramani Mahama has inaugurated an 18-member Joint National Cyber Security Committee (JCC) at a ceremony held at Burma Camp to officially launch National Cyber Security Awareness Month 2025. The committee is composed of representatives from various security and intelligence agencies and is tasked with ensuring coherence, coordination, and proactive measures within Ghana’s national defense architecture.

Speaking under the theme, “Building a Safe, Informed and Accountable Digital Space,” President Mahama stressed that cybersecurity efforts must not be fragmented. He emphasized the necessity of a “unity of purpose, a clear strategy, and disciplined education,” noting that “Cyber-crime ignores borders,” which underscores the need for international collaboration.

Beyond institutional coordination, the President called for a focus on sustained public education. He urged the incorporation of cybersecurity into school curricula, community training, and broad awareness campaigns to demystify the subject and build a more informed and resilient digital citizenry. The launch marks the beginning of a month-long push to enhance digital safety across the country.
