President John Dramani Mahama has found himself in a challenging situation as he strives to keep his promise of appointing only 60 ministers. Despite receiving thousands of CVs from hopeful candidates, Mahama is determined to assemble a skilled team that meets the expectations of Ghanaians and delivers on his government’s promises.
Speaking at a Presidential Dinner in Accra, Mahama acknowledged the pressure of fulfilling his commitment to a lean government. “You wouldn’t want to be in my shoes when you’ve promised to appoint only 60 ministers, yet thousands of people are sending in their CVs. Some people may be disappointed,” he said.
However, Mahama reassured the public that building a successful administration requires contributions beyond ministerial positions. He emphasized the importance of avoiding the mistakes of the previous administration, which was punished by Ghanaians for arrogance, incompetence, and failing to listen to their challenges.
Mahama’s remarks reflect his commitment to building a government that prioritizes the needs of the people and restores trust in leadership. As he navigates the challenging task of appointing ministers, Mahama remains focused on delivering on his promises and securing another term for his administration, perhaps under a different leader.
