President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Mr. Abdulai Bashiru Dapilah as the Acting Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). This appointment, which takes effect on January 27, 2025, is subject to the necessary constitutional and administrative approvals.
As the former Deputy Executive Director of EOCO, a position he held since July 20, 2023, Mr. Dapilah brings a wealth of experience to his new role. His appointment as Deputy Executive Director was made by Ex-President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and he assumed the position following the retirement of Mr. Charles Nana Antwi, who reached the mandatory retirement age.
As Acting Executive Director, Mr. Dapilah will be responsible for leading EOCO’s efforts to prevent and investigate economic and organized crime in Ghana. His appointment is seen as a significant step towards enhancing the country’s anti-corruption efforts and promoting good governance.
