The Ghana Armed Forces and the Ghana Police Service commenced simultaneous, intelligence-led, targeted joint swoops at dawn today, Wednesday, November 12, 2025, across the Ashanti, Volta, and Ahafo Regions.
The operations are taking place specifically in Dadwene and Anwona in the Ashanti Region, Eh in the Volta Region, and Hwediem, Kenyase, Guaso, and Marhani in the Ahafo Region.
According to a release from the Department of Public Relations at the General Headquarters, Burma Camp, the operations are aimed at arresting identified persons involved in the recent attacks on members of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) team, Police officers, officials of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and journalists.
The Armed Forces and the Police Service issued a strong warning, stating that any individual or group that attempts to obstruct the security services in their anti-galamsey operations or any other lawful duty “will face the full force of the law.”
The security services also assured the public that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure the safety and security of well-meaning inhabitants in these towns and communities, encouraging them to remain calm and go about their regular duties without fear or panic. They further commended civil society groups, the media, and individuals for the massive condemnation of the unwarranted attacks against the security forces and expressed reliance on the public’s continuous cooperation.
