International Community Pays Tribute to Ghanaian Leaders Lost in Helicopter Crash

The international community has extended condolences to the government and people of Ghana following a tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight people, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.

The European Union expressed its deepest sadness over the loss, praising the ministers’ commitment to the Ghana-EU partnership. The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the government, and the people of Ghana, expressing solidarity with the Ghana Armed Forces and the ruling National Democratic Congress during this difficult time.

The African Union and the European Union have both paid tribute to the departed leaders, with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission stating that “The African Union stands in full solidarity with Ghana in mourning this profound loss. May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace.”
