Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa, has sounded the alarm over allegations of harassment by supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) against civil servants residing in government housing in Roman Ridge. According to reports, these civil servants are being coerced into vacating their homes, while ongoing renovation projects have been disrupted.
Cudjoe took to Facebook on December 29, 2024, to condemn these actions as “uncivil” and urged the NDC leadership to intervene. His call to action was prompted by a worried civil servant who reached out to him, expressing concerns for the safety of occupants and their families. This individual requested the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to take immediate action to restore order and uphold the rule of law.
What’s more, Cudjoe had previously informed the IGP about the situation before making it public, highlighting the gravity of the situation. This incident raises concerns about the politicization of the civil service and the risk of violence, making a swift response from the IGP crucial to address these allegations and ensure the safety of civil servants and their families. The NDC leadership must also take accountability for the actions of their supporters and work towards a peaceful resolution.
