Herbert Mensah Receives Prestigious Order of the Volta Award

Accra, Ghana – Renowned sports personality Herbert Mensah has been honored with the prestigious Order of the Volta award, one of Ghana’s highest national accolades.

Mensah, who has dedicated 25 years to promoting sports in Ghana, was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the development of rugby and sports in the country.

In a heartfelt acceptance speech, Mensah expressed his gratitude to President of Ghana,Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the award. He also acknowledged the support of his family, who were in attendance, and the Rugby Africa family, who have worked tirelessly to promote the sport in Ghana.

Mensah specifically thanked the President for the construction of a purpose-built Rugby Park and for hosting the Rugby Africa Ladies 7s tournament. He also appreciated the President’s decision to increase the tournament’s participation from 8 to 12 teams, allowing more African countries to take part.

The Order of the Volta is a cross-party national award that recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to Ghana’s development. Mensah’s award is a testament to his hard work and dedication to promoting sports in Ghana.

In his acceptance speech, Mensah emphasized that the award was not just a recognition of his personal efforts but also a tribute to all stakeholders who have supported him on his 25-year journey in sports.
