Accra, Ghana – The Ministry of Health has categorically denied allegations of paying $34.9 million to Ghana Auto Group Limited for ambulance spare parts, calling the claims “widely reported” but false.

The allegations, raised by North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, suggested a procurement deal worth $34 million was a collusion between former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, former Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, and the private company to defraud the state.

In a statement released on Thursday, July 25, the Ministry of Health clarified that Ghana Auto Group Limited has not received the alleged payment. The ministry emphasized that all documentation related to the transaction is publicly accessible.

The Ministry expressed its willingness to support any efforts to bring further clarity to the issue, reaffirming its commitment to establishing a sustainable maintenance regime for the National Ambulance Service’s fleets.

The denial comes amid ongoing scrutiny of government procurement deals, with the Ministry of Health maintaining its dedication to transparency and accountability.
