The Minister for Health, Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye, began a four-day working visit to the Ashanti Region on June 24, 2024, to assess the progress of new health facilities under construction and engage with healthcare workers. His first stop was a courtesy call to the Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah, to discuss the status of projects and healthcare delivery in the region.

Dr. Okoe-Boye then inspected the new Ashanti Regional Hospital at Sewua, a 250-bed capacity facility ready for operationalization. He also visited the Bekwai Municipal Hospital, where he engaged with healthcare workers to understand their challenges firsthand.
Accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Health and Ghana Health Service, the Minister’s visit aims to ensure that all projects are on track, meet standards, and are completed on time. His next stops will include Komfe Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumawu, and Fomena.

This visit demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and services in the Ashanti Region, and Dr. Okoe-Boye’s dedication to engaging with healthcare workers and understanding their challenges.
