The Senior Staff Association (SSA) of the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) has expressed concerns over the impact of embedded power generation on the company’s financial health. Speaking at the 7th Biennial Delegates Congress in Tamale, SSA Chairman Wisdom Kojo Adenyo stated that the increasing prevalence of decentralized energy systems poses a significant threat to GRIDCo’s viability.
Adenyo noted that as more consumers opt for alternative energy sources, the centralized grid system faces growing financial strain. The SSA is calling for collaborative efforts to address the impact of embedded generation and other systemic challenges undermining GRIDCo’s financial health. They also urged for improvements in the governance structure and operations of GRIDCo.
The SSA leadership team was also reshuffled at the congress, with Wisdom Kojo Adenyo being retained as Chairman. Guggisburg Asante was elected as National Vice Chairman, Morrison Edem Essah as National General Secretary, Vida Aheto Abakwam retained as National Assistant Secretary, and Saani Sulemana confirmed as National Treasurer.
