The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has organized a sensitization program for personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on their tax obligations. The event, held at the Burma Hall, was themed “Transforming for Impact and Growth; Accelerating Domestic Revenue Mobilization Through Effective Compliance.” Chief Revenue Officer, Domestic Tax Revenue Division, Mr. Victor Akogo, highlighted the benefits of tax payment and measures to avoid penalties and interests.

Brigadier General Salifu Osmanu, Defence Financial Comptroller, emphasized the importance of taxes for national development. He encouraged GAF personnel to be diligent in fulfilling their tax obligations and to collect invoices on purchases to support their tax compliance. The GRA’s initiative aims to promote tax awareness and compliance among the armed forces, ultimately contributing to the country’s revenue mobilization efforts.

The Comptroller General of the GAF expressed gratitude to the GRA for providing the education, acknowledging the importance of tax literacy for military personnel. The program underscores the GRA’s commitment to engaging with various stakeholders, including the security services, to enhance tax compliance and revenue generation. By educating GAF personnel on their tax obligations, the GRA hopes to foster a culture of voluntary tax compliance within the armed forces.
