The government, in collaboration with the private sector, is set to establish three state-of-the-art garment factories, creating 27,000 jobs under the 24-hour Economy Policy. Each factory is expected to provide 3,000 jobs per shift, Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, announced at the Second Edition of the Kwahu Business Forum.

This initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to boost local manufacturing and stimulate economic growth. The establishment of these factories is expected to have a significant impact on the country’s economy, providing employment opportunities for thousands of Ghanaians and contributing to the growth of the manufacturing sector.

In addition to the garment factories, the government plans to implement new policies to boost local pharmaceutical and automotive component manufacturing. These policies aim to promote local production and reduce reliance on imported goods. The government also intends to empower women and youth through targeted support initiatives, providing them with the necessary skills and resources to participate in the economy.

The Minister also announced new financial incentives and trade support measures, developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, to boost local business competitiveness and ease operational constraints. These measures are designed to support local businesses and promote economic growth, making it easier for them to operate and compete in the global market. The government’s efforts are expected to have a positive impact on the economy and improve the lives of Ghanaians.
