ACCRA, Ghana – The Ghanaian government has disbursed GH₵462 million to cover six months of allowances for over 120,000 nursing trainees nationwide. The Ministry of Health confirmed the payment, which fulfills a key promise made by President John Dramani Mahama during his recent election campaign.

The payment, which began today and will continue through next Friday, is part of a broader government initiative to provide financial support to students in Nurses Training Colleges.

According to Tony Goodman, Deputy Director and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, this development is a significant step towards improving the welfare and motivation of future health professionals and aligns with efforts to strengthen the health sector by supporting critical human resources during their training.

The Ministry of Health expressed appreciation to President Mahama for fulfilling his commitment and thanked all stakeholders involved in facilitating the timely release and distribution of the funds.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to collaborating with nursing institutions to ensure the continued delivery of quality healthcare education across the country.
