Accra, Ghana – The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has assured the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) that the government is actively working to address the Service’s persistent logistical and equipment challenges. He urged personnel to continue their dedication in safeguarding lives and properties.
The Minister delivered this assurance during the Passing Out Parade of Recruit Course 55 at the Fire Academy and Training School in James Town, Accra. He underscored that fire safety is no longer a discretionary matter, particularly in light of recent market fires that have brought collective preparedness and commitment to safety into sharp focus.
Alhaji Muntaka commended the GNFS for achieving a 2.3 percent decrease in fire incidents during the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. This improvement highlights the ongoing efforts of the Service in mitigating fire-related incidents across the nation.
He extended his congratulations to the newly graduated Fire Officers, imploring them to serve with patriotism, dignity, discipline, and unwavering commitment. He further advised them to uphold their noble calling, avoid any actions that could tarnish the Service’s image, and strive to elevate the reputation of the Ghana National Fire Service.
