In a significant move to bolster the SME sector, the government is launching the SME Growth and Opportunity Programme today. This initiative, spearheaded by the Ministries of Finance and Trade and Industry, aims to provide coordinated financial and technical support to high-growth potential SMEs, driving economic growth and development.
The programme’s summit, themed “Breaking Barriers to SME Growth,” will bring together 150 participants from various sectors, including private enterprises, academia, business regulatory and compliance institutions, media, industry, multilateral and bilateral partners, and financial service providers.
Key dignitaries, including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison, President of the African Development Bank Group, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, and Minister for Trade and Industry, K.T Hammond, will be in attendance.
According to Minister for Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, the summit aims to enhance partnerships, mobilize diverse financial resources for SMEs’ growth and expansion, and provide a platform for public and private sector actors to advocate for inclusive policies and strategies required to foster SME growth in Ghana.
This initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the SME sector, driving economic growth and development in Ghana. By providing coordinated financial and technical support, the government is demonstrating its commitment to empowering SMEs to reach their full potential and contribute to the country’s economic prosperity.
