Accra, Ghana – The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry has launched a national initiative to train 350 new Trading Standards Inspectors (TSIs) as part of efforts to overhaul Ghana’s regulatory infrastructure and promote fair trade. The training, which is a direct presidential directive, aims to enforce standardized measurements, ensure quality control, and prepare the economy for full 24-hour industrial activity.

Speaking at the opening ceremony in Koforidua, Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, emphasized that the initiative is a matter of national priority. The newly recruited officers will be responsible for verifying the accuracy of fuel pumps, market scales, electricity meters, inspecting goods at the port, and calibrating hospital equipment, among other duties.

The Minister highlighted that the training represents a shared commitment to building a fair, competitive, and industrially vibrant Ghana. The government’s initiative underscores its commitment to promoting fair trade practices and ensuring that businesses operate in a level playing field.
