President John Dramani Mahama today convened a high-level meeting with the Chief Justice, the Attorney-General, and the Auditor-General to determine measures for strengthening the enforcement of findings contained in the Auditor-General’s Report.

The key outcome of the meeting was the agreement to designate special courts specifically to handle cases arising from audit infractions. These dedicated courts will be responsible for the swift enforcement of surcharges and disallowances issued by the Auditor-General, as well as the prosecution of related criminal offences.

According to a release by the President’s Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the initiative is part of the Government’s broader effort to enhance accountability, deter the misuse of public funds, and ensure the prompt recovery of monies owed to the State. The move aims to expedite the judicial process for financial irregularities identified in public sector audits.
