The government has announced a three-day national mourning period from Thursday, August 7 to Saturday, August 9, 2025, to honor the departed leaders and individuals who lost their lives in a tragic helicopter crash. During this period, various activities will be held to allow citizens to pay their respects and reflect on the loss.
On Thursday, a public laying of flowers and lighting of candles will take place at the Ceremonial Garden in front of the Presidency, starting at 1:00 pm. The same ceremony will continue on Friday, allowing citizens to express their condolences. The national mourning period will conclude on Saturday with an “Evening of Reflections and Memorials” at the Forecourt of the State House, beginning at 5:00 pm.
The government has urged all citizens to observe the national mourning period with dignity and respect. Further details on the State Funeral and other arrangements will be communicated through official government channels.
