Members of the Ghanaian Community in Chicago with music and other artistic talents are called for an audition to select the best candidates to perform at the upcoming Ghanafest on July 29, 2023. The 2023 Ghanafest is scheduled at the historic Washington Park, 5500 S. Russell Drive, Chicago, Illinois. The Ghana National Council Of Metropolitan Chicago, GNC., posted the information on WhatsApp platforms here in Chicago and its environs.
Two auditions are slated. The first is on June 10, 2023, the second and last audition comes on June 17, 2023. We reproduce the post below:
With just a little over 50 days until Ghana Fest, we are very excited to announce that we’ll be holding auditions for this year’s opening acts!
This is a call for singers, dancers, musicians, and performing artists in our beloved Chicago city to showcase your exceptional talent!
The auditions will be held virtually this Saturday, June 10, and next Saturday, June 17, 2023.!

Meanwhile, the GNC has scheduled a two-day Soccer Tournament dubbed: “Forward Together” at the Wilson Turf, 4400 N. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago Illinois. The tournament starts at 4 pm prompt each day with the Semi-Finals on July 22 and the finals on July 30, 2023. Four teams were selected from the Chicago area. They are:
- Ghana Black Stars of Chicago
- Nigeria 3 Points FC
- United Stars of Liberia
- Senegambia Lions FC
Admission is free. Please come one come all to support your favorite team.
Ghana defeated Liberia 4-3 in a thrilling maiden match last year to win the cup and bragging rights.
