As the clock struck midnight, ushering in a new year, the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) extended warm wishes to all media practitioners, acknowledging the challenges they faced in 2024. Despite those hurdles, the media fraternity demonstrated resilience and a collective resolve to serve the nation, earning commendation from the GJA.

As the Association looks to the future, it urged media practitioners and houses to remain committed to upholding high professional standards, even in the face of adversity. The GJA emphasized the importance of maintaining independence and impartiality, uninfluenced by political, financial, religious, or tribal inclinations.
With Ghana currently navigating a transition period, marked by election controversies and tensions, the media plays a critical role in promoting peace and stability. The GJA cautioned against becoming agents provocateurs or providing platforms for those who seek to breach the peace. Instead, the media should strive to defuse tension, douse fires, and promote national cohesion.
GJA President Albert Kwabena Dwumfour expressed his optimism for the year ahead, despite the uncertainties. “May all media practitioners and houses prosper beyond measure in 2025,” he said. As the media fraternity embarks on this new journey, the GJA remains committed to supporting and promoting excellence in journalism, ultimately contributing to Ghana’s democratic growth, economic prosperity, and national development. Afehyia Pa!
