Accra, Ghana – GIZ, in partnership with the European Union, recently convened the second project steering committee meeting for their “Support to the Transformation of TVET System in Ghana” initiative.
This crucial gathering brought together key stakeholders to comprehensively assess the program’s achievements, confront existing challenges, and outline the strategic next steps for skill development in the country.
The steering committee is a diverse body, comprising representatives from the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET), Ghana Technical and Vocational Education and Training (GTVET), various Development Partners (DPs), the Ministry of Education, and a range of industrial partners.
This collaborative framework is designed to ensure a holistic approach to TVET reform.
The overarching goal of this ambitious initiative is twofold: to generate more employment opportunities for Ghanaian youth and to fundamentally transform the entire Technical and Vocational Education and Training landscape across the nation. By strengthening TVET, GIZ and the EU aim to equip the next generation with the practical skills demanded by the job market, fostering economic growth and reducing unemployment.
The discussions at the steering committee meeting focused on fine-tuning strategies to achieve these objectives, ensuring that the program remains responsive to Ghana’s evolving economic needs and the demands of its industries.
