In a significant development, the leadership of the National Association of Small Scale Miners last Friday, paid a courtesy call on Sammy Gyamfi, the Acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC). The meeting centered around President Mahama’s vision of establishing a Gold Board, dubbed “GoldBod,” aimed at sustainable development and marketing of Ghana’s gold resources.

The GoldBod initiative seeks to provide mining support services to the small-scale mining industry, addressing challenges faced by small-scale miners and promoting responsible mining practices. The leaders of the National Association of Small Scale Miners welcomed the vision behind GoldBod, sharing insightful ideas on how to realize its benefits for the citizenry.

As part of his mandate, Gyamfi will oversee the establishment of the Ghana Gold Board, operating under the guidance of the Minister for Finance. The GoldBod’s primary objectives include sustainable management and marketing of Ghana’s gold resources, formalizing the small-scale mining sector, and providing essential support services to the mining industry.

This initiative is expected to boost transparency, economic growth, and the equitable distribution of benefits from Ghana’s gold resources. With the GoldBod initiative, Ghana’s gold industry is poised for transformation, and the country is likely to reap significant economic benefits.
