Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister Meets German Development Cooperation on Migration

Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, met with representatives from Germany’s Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on May 6, 2025, to discuss migration and diaspora matters. The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration between Ghana and Germany in managing migration and promoting development.

During the meeting, Mr. Wilhelm Hugo, Cluster Coordinator for Sustainable Economic Development in Ghana, commended Ghana’s efforts in migration management and diaspora engagement. He outlined GIZ’s 360-degree approach to migration management, focusing on various phases to ensure dignified migration. Minister Ablakwa appreciated GIZ’s assistance to Ghana and highlighted the dangers of irregular migration, emphasizing Ghana’s commitment to safe, regular, and orderly migration through targeted government programs.

The discussions underscore the importance of international cooperation in addressing migration challenges and promoting economic development. Ghana’s partnership with GIZ reflects the country’s efforts to engage in global initiatives and strengthen bilateral relations.
