Ghana’s economy is on a roll, exceeding expectations and solidifying its position as one of Africa’s most dynamic economies. According to the Ministry of Finance, the country’s economic performance in the third quarter of 2024 was remarkable, with an impressive average real GDP growth rate of 6.3%.
This growth was fueled by quarterly expansions of 4.8% in Q1, 7.0% in Q2, and an outstanding 7.2% in Q3—the highest quarterly GDP growth in the last five years. The non-oil sector also showed significant growth, with an average growth rate of 6.2% for the first three quarters of 2024, compared to 2.6% in the same period last year.
The Ministry of Finance is optimistic that Ghana will exceed the revised GDP growth projection of 4% for 2024. Ghana’s post-debt restructuring growth is also defying global trends, where such economies typically grow at a modest 1-2% .
Overall, Ghana’s economy is showing resilience and growth, despite global and domestic challenges. The country’s impressive economic performance is a testament to its potential for growth and development.
