A two-day workshop for Members of Parliament is currently underway at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, bringing together lawmakers, policy experts, and stakeholders to discuss the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy. Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson presented the budget to Parliament on November 13, focusing on job creation, economic growth, and sustainable development.

The budget highlights include plans to create up to 800,000 new jobs across various sectors, with a focus on agriculture, industry, and infrastructure development. The government also aims to boost economic growth through private sector-led initiatives, industrialization, and export promotion.

However, the budget has received mixed reactions, with the Minority Caucus criticizing it as a “Galamsey Budget” lacking concrete plans for economic transformation and job creation. The workshop aims to provide a platform for stakeholders to engage with the budget and offer insights for its effective implementation.
