Ghanaian Peacekeepers Honored with UN Peace Medal in South Sudan

Seven hundred Ghanaian personnel serving with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) have been awarded the United Nations Peace Medal in a ceremony held at the Battalion Headquarters in Bentiu. The medals were presented in recognition of their contributions to peacekeeping efforts in the region.

The ceremony was attended by UNMISS Force Commander Lieutenant General Mohan Subramanian, who praised the Ghanaian government and people for their significant contributions to UN peacekeeping. He commended the Ghanaian battalion for their efforts in protecting civilians in South Sudan.

Lieutenant General Subramanian also commended the Ghanaian battalion for their outstanding work in flood mitigation within their area of responsibility. Their civil-military cooperation and humanitarian efforts have been instrumental in advancing the UN’s goal of facilitating humanitarian aid to those in need.
